The FCF certification validates that you have mastered the technical knowledge and skills that are required for any entry-level job role in cybersecurity. This curriculum will offer courses that cover today’s threat landscape and the fundamentals of cybersecurity.
We recommend this certification to entry-level cybersecurity professionals and everybody that would like to pursue a career in cybersecurity. We also recommend this certification for professionals that need to have a high-level understanding of the most common cybersecurity concepts.
Professionals will automatically receive the FCF certification on October 1, 2023, if they have a active NSE 1 and NSE 2 certifications on that date. The expiration date of the FCF certification will match the expiration date of the NSE 2 certification.
Recommended training for this certification
You must successfully complete the core course and one elective course within two years of difference.

Elective courses:
- Getting Started in Cybersecurity: This course is ideal for individuals in non-technical job positions that require a high-level understanding of the most important technical fundamentals of cybersecurity, Examples of those job roles are security product salespeople and company CEOs.
- Technical Introduction to Cybersecurity: This course is ideal for individuals in technical roles that require a more in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of cybersecurity. This course is also ideal for people that want to pursue a technical job in cybersecurity.
You will receive a digital exam badge each time you complete any version of the above courses. You will also receive a digital certification badge after you have achieved the certification.
Recertification
If your FCF certification has expired, you must complete the core course and one elective course within two years of difference to earn active status.
If your FCF certification is still active you can extend its expiration date to two years from the date you complete one of the following requirements:
- Complete the core course and one elective course within two years of difference.
- Completing the FortiGate Operator course and passing the FortiGate Operator exam.
- Passing one exam for any FCP certifications.
- Passing one exam for any FCSS certifications.
If your FCF certification is still active, you can extend its expiration date to three years from date you achieve or renew the FCX in Cybersecurity certification.
